Inspired by the timeless beauty of Mt. Fuji and brought to life on our championship-winning PA-AFO, the limited-edition “Mt. Fuji” was created to celebrate an unforgettable achievement by Yugo Ishii at the 2025 Mt. Fuji Hill Climb.

From Office Desk to Mt. Fuji Champion

Yugo Ishii is a full-time office worker in Japan whose dedication and determination have made him one of the most respected amateur cyclists in the country. Last year, he chose the DARE PA-AFO to elevate his performance and committed himself to rigorous training, earning podium finishes and victories across some of Japan’s most competitive amateur races.

His defining moment came at the legendary Mt. Fuji Hill Climb, where he claimed victory on the 24-kilometer course featuring 1,270 meters of elevation gain. Together, Ishii and the PA-AFO delivered a remarkable performance on Japan’s most sacred mountain.

Honored to have been part of this journey, DARE approached Ishii with the idea of creating a commemorative paint scheme to celebrate this achievement. That conversation gave birth to the PA-AFO “Mt. Fuji.” Ishii’s personal frame also carries his handwritten signature, creating a unique tribute to both the rider and the mountain he conquered.

More than a paint scheme, “Mt. Fuji” is an artistic interpretation of the mountain’s captivating beauty.

The frame transitions from translucent deep blue to refined icy azure, while selective transparency reveals the UD carbon weave beneath. The effect evokes the shimmering waters surrounding Mt. Fuji, reflecting its grandeur through changing light and subtle movement.

The graphics feature a bold asymmetrical layout inspired by traditional Japanese art. Elements such as the rising red sun, the golden glow of sunset, and hand-brushed artistic details are carefully integrated across the fork, head tube, and bottom bracket area. The top tube and seat tube incorporate contour lines representing Mt. Fuji’s 3,776-meter summit, creating a meaningful symbol for riders who embrace climbing challenges.

Gold metallic accents, snow-white speckles, and brushed-metal DARE logos further enhance the design, expressing the layered beauty and changing character of Mt. Fuji throughout the seasons and hours of the day.
